Senegal has hosted the 14th Ordinary Session of the African Council of Ministers in charge of Water Resources, where leaders adopted a landmark strategy dubbed African Water Vision 2063.

The roadmap, shaped over two days of discussions in Dakar, seeks to ensure universal access to water and sanitation while tackling the mounting pressures of climate change on the continent’s resources.

Cheikh Tidjane Dieye, Senegal’s Minister of Water and Sanitation and current president of the council, emphasized that water lies at the heart of Africa’s development challenges.

The adopted framework will now be transmitted to African governments, setting a long-term agenda to address water scarcity and strengthen resilience for the future.
