In the United States, four people have been killed following a shooting and fire at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan. Authorities say several others remain unaccounted for after the blaze, which has since been contained but caused significant damage to the building.
Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford. He was shot dead after officers exchanged gunfire with him in the church car park. The FBI has opened an investigation, describing the incident as an act of targeted violence, though the motive remains unclear.
Officials have praised churchgoers for acts of “extreme courage,” including sheltering children and moving them to safety during the attack. U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the violence, calling it horrendous.
Here is Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye who confirmed that an additional two victims have been found inside the Michigan church.
That brings the death toll up to four victims, in addition to the gunman.
