In Mali, parts of the country are grappling with a fuel shortage that has persisted for several days, disrupting daily life and economic activity.

In Mopti, a key city in central Mali, residents say the scarcity is driving up prices and creating hardship. The regional governor has condemned the sharp rise in fuel costs, calling for urgent measures to stabilize supply.

The crisis has been compounded by insecurity, with the al-Qaeda–linked group JNIM reportedly setting fire to several tanker trucks carrying fuel into the country.

Authorities now face the dual challenge of addressing both market shortages and the threat posed by armed groups targeting vital supply chains.
