Guinea’s General Directorate of Elections has announced the final results of the September 21 constitutional referendum, declaring an overwhelming victory for the “yes” vote.

According to Minister of Territorial Administration Ibrahima Kalil Condé, 88.42% of voters supported the new constitution, while 10.62% voted “no.” Authorities described the outcome as a major step in the country’s political transition.

However, opposition groups, led by UFDG party leader Cellou Dalein Diallo, dismissed the process as an electoral sham. Protests erupted in parts of the country following the announcement.

The Supreme Court will now decide whether to confirm or overturn the results presented by the electoral commission, a ruling seen as crucial to Guinea’s political stability.
