The Open Society Foundations (OSF) has renewed its call for a fairer global order at the 80th UN General Assembly in New York.

OSF President Binaifer Nowrojee addressed a side event themed “From Ezulwini to an Equitable World Order: Power, Peace, Prosperity, and Reparations.” She underscored the foundation’s commitment to advancing multilateralism, peace, and reparations for Africa.

The Ezulwini Consensus of 2005, which demands two permanent and five non-permanent UN Security Council seats for Africa, formed the basis of discussions. Despite making up 54 UN member states, Africa still has no permanent representation on the Council.

Nowrojee reaffirmed that OSF will continue to push for these goals through advocacy, research, and targeted grants, describing UNGA 80 as a pivotal moment for global reform.
