Authorities in Gombe State have launched a major drive to enroll over 800,000 out-of-school children, part of efforts to close Nigeria’s wide education gap.
The initiative comes as the country continues to rank among those with the highest number of children lacking access to formal education. Families in the northeast, where insecurity has disrupted schools, are among the hardest hit.
Officials say the push is not only about enrollment but also ensuring retention, with plans to improve learning environments and teacher support across the state.
