The Imo State Police Command says it has arrested 789 suspects and rescued several victims of kidnapping and child trafficking over the past two months.
Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma, speaking at a press briefing in Owerri, said the arrests were made in collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders, stressing that the partnership has been key to restoring safety.
The suspects face charges ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking, and terrorism. Police also recovered 17 firearms, 72 rounds of ammunition, 673 live cartridges, nine stolen motorcycles, explosives, electronic gadgets, and what they described as “Biafra currencies.”
Danjuma assured the public that the command remains committed to stamping out criminal networks threatening peace and security in the state.
