The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has dismissed fears of an Ebola outbreak in the Federal Capital Territory, confirming that recent suspected cases tested negative for both Ebola and Marburg viruses.
The clarification follows reports that passengers on a Rwanda Air flight to Abuja had shown symptoms resembling Ebola. Tests, however, revealed the index patient did not have either virus.
The NCDC said investigations are ongoing to check for other viral haemorrhagic fevers such as Lassa fever and Dengue. It also urged the public to seek medical attention if unwell, especially after recent travel.
Director General Dr. Jide Idris further reaffirmed that two suspected cases in Abuja also tested negative, assuring citizens that vigilance remains high.
