The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) says more countries on the continent are recording a decline in Mpox cases.
In its latest weekly update, the health body reported a total of 191,559 cases and nearly 2,000 deaths since January 2024.
Dr. Yap Boum II, deputy director overseeing Mpox epidemic management at Africa CDC, noted that 29 African countries have so far been affected.
The agency says ongoing surveillance and response measures remain critical in sustaining the downward trend.
