Eleven West African nationals from Nigeria, Liberia, Togo, The Gambia, and Mali have filed a lawsuit against the Government of Ghana at the Human Rights Court in Accra.
The plaintiffs allege they were unlawfully detained after being secretly removed from U.S. immigration facilities, shackled, and flown into Ghana earlier this month without due process.
Their suit, invoking the constitutional right to liberty, seeks urgent relief and accountability from the Ghanaian authorities.
The case has sparked regional interest, raising questions about cross-border justice and the treatment of migrants under international law.
