In a landmark move to strengthen accountability and discipline within its ranks, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has announced the results of its first phase of drug testing for employees.
On Monday, September 1, 2025, the Africa Union Trading Company, Inc., in collaboration with the LDEA Interim Leadership, conducted comprehensive drug tests on more than seventy (70) staff members at the Agency’s headquarters in Monrovia. The process began with the three interim directors before extending to sectional heads, senior officers, and junior staff.
According to the results released, all employees tested negative for any form of illegal substance.
But how significant is the LDEA’s decision mandating nationwide drug testing for its officers in terms of restoring public trust?
Join Michael Geplay, a former spokesperson for the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency and Titus W. Tokpah, Sr. Founder / Executive Director, MediaAid Foundation, for more insights.
