In Côte d’Ivoire, the 2nd ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference (ELFIC 2025) is underway in Abidjan, drawing scientists, policymakers, and development partners from across the region.
Dr. Henshaw Mandi, a consultant to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), revealed that clinical trials for a potential Lassa fever vaccine are ongoing in Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia.
The conference highlights the urgency of addressing Lassa fever, a recurring public health challenge in West Africa, through science-driven solutions and regional cooperation.
Participants are expected to share research findings and shape strategies to strengthen surveillance, prevention, and treatment across affected countries.
