In Nigeria’s north-eastern Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum has expressed profound sorrow following the massacre of more than 60 villagers by Boko Haram insurgents in Bama Local Government Area.

The governor described the killings as a tragic setback for a community that had only recently been resettled after years of displacement caused by insurgency.

During a condolence visit, Governor Zulum pledged renewed support for affected families and highlighted measures his administration is taking to strengthen community resilience.

He announced plans to deploy trained forest guards to vulnerable areas, stressing the need for local security measures to complement ongoing military operations against insurgents.
