African leaders are meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the second Africa Climate Summit, taking place from September 8 to 10, 2025.
The summit, held under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development”, seeks to advance Africa-led solutions in renewable energy, climate adaptation, and nature-based resilience. A major focus is on securing fairer access to global climate finance.
Powered by the African Union, the gathering is seen as a defining moment in shaping Africa’s climate leadership and ensuring the continent’s priorities are reflected in international negotiations.
At a pre-summit press conference, Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Fitsum Assefa, outlined key deliverables, emphasizing the need to unlock climate finance for Africa’s green and resilient future.
