Malian authorities have taken legal action against Algeria at the International Court of Justice. The move comes after the downing of a Malian army drone near Tinzawatin, close to the border.

Officials in Bamako accuse Algiers of attempting to shoot down its aircraft between March and April 2025, disrupting counter-terrorism operations in the region.

Mali says the incident directly undermines its efforts to combat armed terrorist groups operating in the Sahel.
