The town of Koro in Mali’s Bandiagara region is overwhelmed by a massive influx of refugees fleeing violence in neighboring Burkina Faso.

Koro is now hosting over 83,000 displaced people, a number that has surpassed the town’s own population. Families have crossed the border seeking shelter and safety from escalating attacks.

Humanitarian organizations warn that conditions are deteriorating quickly, with limited resources to meet the urgent needs of food, shelter, and medical care.

The crisis underscores the spillover effects of Burkina Faso’s insecurity, putting mounting pressure on Mali’s already fragile humanitarian landscape.
