Calm has returned to The Gambia’s capital after days of tension between police and demonstrators protesting increased data subscription fees.
Several protesters, including members of the youth movement Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA), were arrested between last Friday and Monday.
Their release follows widespread public condemnation, though police say charges against them remain pending.
Meanwhile, a prominent Gambian figure has written an open letter to President Adama Barrow, urging dialogue and reforms to address public grievances.
