Farabougou, once a bustling town in central Mali, has turned into a ghost town after a major assault by the terrorist group JNIM.

The attack, carried out last week, forced families to flee to nearby villages, leaving the town completely deserted.

Local authorities report that the security situation remains volatile, with fears of further attacks keeping residents from returning home.

Meanwhile, humanitarian groups warn of worsening conditions for the displaced, as basic needs such as food, water, and shelter grow increasingly scarce.
