Senegal’s Ministry of Health has confirmed the country’s first Mpox case in Dakar, involving a foreign national admitted to Fann Hospital on August 21.
Authorities say the patient is stable and in isolation, with measures in place to curb further spread. The Ministry urged the public to stay calm and follow health guidelines.
The detection comes amid sporadic cases across West Africa, though the WHO and Africa CDC report a 30% decline in new cases continent-wide in recent weeks.
