Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, as efforts intensify to end the war in Ukraine. The talks followed Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which ended without a ceasefire.

Several European leaders also joined the Washington discussions, highlighting the international urgency. Unlike his tense February visit, Zelensky adopted a conciliatory tone, repeatedly thanking his American hosts and signalling a fresh start in ties with the Trump administration.

In a symbolic shift, the Ukrainian leader traded his trademark fatigues for a dark suit, joking with reporters about the change. Trump, meanwhile, pledged his commitment to brokering lasting peace in Ukraine, even as battles continue on the ground.
