Across Africa, ordinary citizens are stepping up in extraordinary ways to make a difference in their communities. Today on Our African Hero, we journey to Zozo, in Lofa County, Liberia, where one man is rewriting what it means to serve.
In Liberia’s remote northern counties, accessing basic healthcare can mean walking miles, only to find that the medicine you need isn’t there.
But in Lofa County, one young nurse is pushing against the odds. With no formal support, he’s building something rare: a self-funded health service that’s quietly reshaping lives in communities left behind and showing other young rural entrepreneurs a path forward.
Meet Henry Pewee Nyandibo, a dedicated Nurse who has turned his motorcycle into a lifeline for the sick and vulnerable. With limited access to health facilities in this rural community, Nyandibo brings medicine and hope directly to the doorsteps of those who need it most.
Our partner station, Alternative Youth Radio, in collaboration with New Narratives and the Swedish embassy, brings us this inspiring story. In this feature, reporter James Papy Kwabo takes us closer to the impact of Nyandibo’s work. Here is our African Hero for today.
