Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has condemned the arrest of Beninese journalist Hugues Comlan Sossoukpè, describing it as a targeted kidnapping and a serious violation of press freedom.
Sossoukpè, who heads the online news outlet Olofofo.info, was detained on July 10 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He is facing multiple charges, including cyberstalking, incitement to hatred and rebellion, and condoning terrorism.
RSF has called for his immediate release, warning that his detention sets a dangerous precedent for journalists in West Africa.
