The Malian government has revealed fresh details on recent army arrests, accusing several officers of plotting to derail the country’s political transition.
Authorities in Bamako allege the plan was masterminded by a French national with ties to French intelligence. The alleged plotters were reportedly aiming to seize power before the transitional process concludes.
Mali’s Minister of Security, Daoud Aly Mohammedine, said the coup attempt was foiled earlier this month, leading to the arrest of ten suspects. The government insists the political transition will proceed as planned despite the incident.
