Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will arrive in The Gambia this Thursday, August 14, 2025, for an official visit.
A statement from the Gambian State House says President Bio will land at Banjul International Airport at 2:00 PM, where he will be received before heading to the State House for talks with President Adama Barrow, followed by a private dinner.
Their discussions are expected to focus on the future relationship between ECOWAS and the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), with attention on regional stability and cooperation.
This visit follows President Bio’s recent diplomatic engagements in Togo, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire, where he held high-level talks on the future of ECOWAS ahead of the AES member states’ planned withdrawal from the bloc in under two months.
