Ghana is in mourning following a tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including key government ministers.

President John Dramani Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning period beginning Thursday, August 7, 2025, in honor of the victims. Among the deceased are Defense Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, alongside several senior military and government officials.

The crash, which occurred in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, has left the nation in shock and sorrow. Messages of condolence have poured in from across West Africa and beyond, highlighting the significant loss to Ghana’s leadership and public service.

As the country grieves, President Mahama has urged unity and calm while investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
