Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has addressed rising diplomatic tensions with Nigeria, firmly denying any plans for mass deportation of Nigerian nationals. His reassurance comes amid growing concern triggered by a viral video that sparked public and political outcry in Nigeria.

To ease the situation, Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, led a diplomatic mission to Accra for talks. President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to regional unity and fair treatment of all residents.

He described the deportation rumors as baseless and urged both nations to continue fostering strong bilateral ties built on mutual respect and cooperation.

The clarification appears to have eased immediate tensions, with both governments emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy moving forward.
