President John Dramani Mahama met with Open Society Foundations (OSF) Chair, Alex Soros, on Friday to discuss Ghana’s strong strides in economic recovery, democratic governance, and regional stability.
Mahama highlighted Ghana’s “Reset Agenda,” which focuses on rebuilding national values, empowering anti-corruption institutions, and restoring investor confidence. He cited the Ghana Cedi’s 42% appreciation and a sharp drop in the debt-to-GDP ratio as signs of economic revival.
The President also reaffirmed Ghana’s democratic credentials, noting nine peaceful elections since 1992 and continued respect for civil liberties. On security, he said Ghana is actively engaging Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to reunify the ECOWAS region.
Soros congratulated Mahama on his re-election and praised Ghana’s role in promoting democratic values and regional integration.
