Lawyers in Guinea have extended their nationwide strike by another two weeks, intensifying pressure on authorities to investigate the abduction of prominent attorney Mohamed Traoré.

The decision came during an extraordinary general assembly at the Bar Association’s headquarters, where legal professionals reiterated their call for justice and accountability. Dressed in black robes, they vowed not to return to courtrooms until their demands are addressed.

Their primary request is a direct meeting with transitional president Mamadi Doumbouya, alongside a credible investigation into the kidnapping incident.

This renewed strike marks a critical moment for Guinea’s legal community, which sees the incident as a threat to judicial independence and professional safety.
