Benin’s National Guard has successfully concluded its “Shield” military exercise in the southern region of the country, aimed at boosting readiness against potential terrorist threats.
Over the past week, soldiers conducted simulated responses across three departments, preparing for scenarios ranging from ambushes to coordinated attacks.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the operation was a success, with troops expected to be deployed soon under the ongoing security mission, Operation MIRADOR.
The exercise comes amid growing regional concerns over the spread of violent extremism into coastal West Africa.
