In Liberia, several former government officials were detained at the Monrovia Central Prison on Thursday over allegations of diverting humanitarian aid.
Among those held were ex-Foreign Minister Dee Maxwell Kemeyah, former General Services Agency chief Mary Broh, and Henry Williams, previously with the National Disaster Management Agency.
Authorities accuse the group of misappropriating donor aid supplies and engaging in corrupt practices linked to relief efforts.
While the move is praised by some as a step toward accountability, others describe it as a political witch hunt targeting past administration figures.
