The Justice Workers’ Union and the National Union of Justice Workers in Senegal have announced a 48-hour extension of their ongoing strike, beginning Thursday, June 26. This follows an initial 72-hour work stoppage earlier in the week.
The unions are protesting what they describe as continued government inaction on key demands, including the reclassification of court clerks into the A2 hierarchy and improved protection of the material and moral interests of justice sector employees.
The strike has effectively paralyzed administrative functions in courthouses across the country. Citizens at the Dakar courthouse, speaking to WADR, called for constructive dialogue to end the stalemate.
