Niger is taking another step in its political transition as the newly established Consultative Council for Refoundation (CCR) prepares to begin its work. A decree signed by Transitional President General Abdourahmane Tiani has scheduled the council’s inaugural session for Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Tasked with offering recommendations to the ruling National Transitional Council (CNSP) and the government, the CCR serves as a transitional legislative body during the country’s ongoing refoundation process. Members of the council represent a broad cross-section of Nigerien society.
The council’s input is expected to shape future reforms and lay the groundwork for the return to constitutional order.
