President Alassane Ouattara is keeping Ivorians in suspense as he delays confirming whether he will contest a potential fourth term in the October 2025 presidential elections.

Despite receiving an official endorsement from his party, the ruling RHDP, during its congress in Abidjan on Sunday, Ouattara stopped short of accepting the candidacy. Instead, he asked for more time to reflect on the decision.

While his supporters argue his leadership is vital for continued progress, opposition voices have swiftly criticized the possible bid, calling it unconstitutional and warning it would be a step too far.
