Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has issued a strict directive banning the use of smartphones by soldiers during frontline military operations. The president warned that any soldier caught violating the order risks immediate dismissal.

This measure comes as part of efforts to strengthen military discipline and improve operational security in the fight against terrorism. Authorities argue that mobile phones not only distract troops but also pose serious risks by potentially exposing troop locations to enemy forces.

Security analysts support the move, citing past incidents where cell phone usage has compromised missions and aided terrorist attacks.
