Tensions are rising in Togo as citizens prepare for another wave of demonstrations demanding the resignation of Faure Gnassingbé, President of the Council of Ministers. The protests, largely mobilized via social media, reflect growing public frustration.

On June 6, a major protest rocked the capital, Lomé, where demonstrators decried poor governance, the rising cost of living, and clampdowns on dissent. The protest was forcefully dispersed by police, leading to around fifty arrests—some of whom have since been released.

Despite the crackdown, organizers are calling for renewed demonstrations in Lomé in the coming days. The situation underscores growing unrest in a country long governed by the Gnassingbé family.
