The West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) 2025 opened in Abuja on Friday with high-level participation from ECOWAS Heads of State, government officials, business leaders, and regional stakeholders. Themed “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region,” the two-day summit aims to strengthen cooperation for economic growth.
Nigeria’s President officially opened the summit, emphasizing the importance of deepening regional partnerships to position West Africa as a globally competitive economic bloc. Leaders will engage in discussions aimed at harmonizing trade policies, improving infrastructure, and fostering youth-driven innovation.
WAES 2025 also places a strong focus on sustainable development, encouraging investment in key sectors like agriculture, energy, and technology. It offers a vital platform for countries to align economic strategies and address shared challenges.
With collaborative momentum, this year’s summit is expected to produce actionable frameworks to boost intra-regional trade, attract foreign investment, and reinforce the region’s long-term economic resilience.
