A major three-day forum on communications has opened in Senegal, with calls to harmonize media regulations and safeguard the country’s information space. The event brings together media professionals, regulators, and policymakers to review frameworks governing press freedom, advertising, and social media use.

A key priority for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the forum seeks to strengthen Senegal’s sovereignty in the digital era while promoting ethical journalism and responsible communication.

Participants are expected to make recommendations that will shape future reforms in the sector, including improving the safety of media actors and tightening ownership rules. Organizers say the forum marks a step toward modern, unified media governance in Senegal.
