The African Union has concluded a high-level mission to Côte d’Ivoire, aimed at fostering peace ahead of the country’s presidential elections scheduled for October 25, 2025. Led by seasoned diplomat Mahamat Saleh Annadif, the delegation met with key political actors, civil society groups, and electoral officials.

In a statement following the visit, the AU reiterated its commitment to supporting a credible and peaceful electoral process. However, many Ivorians remain skeptical as political tensions mount and opposition voices raise concerns about fairness and transparency.

With just four months to go, the real test lies ahead. Observers say the AU’s intervention, while commendable, will only make a tangible impact if followed by sustained diplomatic pressure and technical support to safeguard the vote and uphold democratic principles.
