Leaders of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) have held talks with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health in an effort to end their nationwide strike. The final decision now rests with the Association’s National Council.
GRNMA began an indefinite strike on June 2, citing the government’s failure to implement the 2024 Collective Agreement. They argue the delay undermines their welfare and jeopardizes healthcare delivery across the country.
The parliamentary committee invited GRNMA executives to the negotiating table, urging a swift resolution to ease pressure on Ghana’s healthcare system.
Following the meeting, GRNMA says it will consult with its National Council before deciding whether to continue or call off the strike.
