This week’s edition engages two guests on The United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel.
Known as The United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel, (UNISS) it was developed in 2013 based on Security Council Resolution 2056.
This resolution responded to the Malian crisis that began in the country’s northern region. UNISS was built around three pillars even until its recalibration in 2018.
Dr Maji Peterx, a regional security expert and Dr Bunu Muhammed, Director, Center of Counterring Terrorism Borno State, northeast Nigeria highlight some of the gains and challenges of the Framework in the current context of governance and security in the Sahel.
