Ghana’s President John Mahama, speaking as the African Union’s Champion for Reparations, has outlined a bold vision for reparative justice across the continent.

Marking Africa Day 2025, Mahama called for official apologies from former colonial powers, debt cancellation, return of stolen cultural artifacts, and investments in education to elevate African heritage.

He urged African leaders, civil society, youth groups, and the diaspora to unify behind the reparations agenda.

According to him, achieving justice for historical wrongs demands collective resolve and a future rooted in dignity and transformation.
