Child Rights International (CRI) is questioning the transparency of the Ghana Immigration Service’s recent operation in Accra.

The sweep, which saw over 2,200 foreign street beggars rounded up, included several children whose evacuation remains poorly explained.

CRI has labeled the situation a national emergency, citing inadequate communication and a lack of child protection measures.

The advocacy group is urging urgent reforms and greater accountability from authorities.
