Hundreds of Burkinabe refugees have arrived in the Malian town of Koro, fleeing attacks by armed groups.

The displaced persons, mostly women and children, are seeking shelter in the Bandiagara region of central Mali.

Local officials say the growing influx since last week has worsened humanitarian conditions in the area.

Authorities are calling for urgent support from aid organizations to assist the refugees.
