ECOWAS, through the West African Health Organization (WAHO), has called for greater efforts to combat Lassa fever and emerging diseases.

WAHO announced the second Lassa Fever International Conference, set for September 2025 in Côte d’Ivoire, to enhance regional cooperation.

The organization stressed the need for sustainable preparedness, improved outbreak management, and stronger health systems across West Africa.
