A security analyst, Professor Kwesi Aning, has expressed concerns over escalating security breaches linked to illegal mining (Galamsey) in Ghana.
This comes after a deadly clash between the military and suspected illegal miners at a decommissioned Anglogold Ashanti mine in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.
The incident highlights the tensions and systemic challenges plaguing the mining sector, which continue to threaten the nation’s environment and economy.
Professor Aning has called for decisive measures to address the growing crisis and ensure sustainable mining practices.
