Over the weekend, armed robbers targeted the Riu Baobab Hotel in Pointe Sarène, Petite-Côte, stealing 12,100,000 CFA francs.

The twenty assailants, wielding hunting rifles, raided the reception area before attempting to escape in a hotel bus. They were intercepted by police, resulting in a gunfight that forced the robbers back into the hotel.

Although the premises were sealed off, the thieves escaped through barbed wire into a nearby forest, abandoning their weapons. No injuries were reported, and authorities have launched an investigation.
