Authorities in Zinder, Niger, have dismantled a major drug trafficking network, arresting nine individuals, including one foreign national, during an operation conducted by the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) from January 5 to 10, 2025.
The operation led to the seizure of 599,850 capsules of pregabalin, 18 kilograms of cannabis, and 8,110 tablets of other psychotropic substances intended for local and regional markets.
Officials attributed the success to robust collaboration among law enforcement, judicial services, and community members. The Public Prosecutor in Zinder encouraged the public to report suspicious activities, while the Governor highlighted the need for greater drug awareness and prevention initiatives, particularly targeting youth.
