Leaders from across Africa convened in Accra on January 7 for the swearing-in of Ghana’s newly elected President, John Dramani Mahama.

The event, which included dignitaries from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, carried geopolitical significance beyond its ceremonial nature.

Prof. Kwesi Anning, a security and international relations expert, remarked that their presence could pave the way for renewed dialogue to encourage these nations to reconsider their exit from the regional bloc, ECOWAS, fostering a renewed push for pan-African unity.
