The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to account for over ₦825 billion and $2.5 billion in public funds. These funds were reportedly allocated for refinery rehabilitation and oil-related revenues but remain unaccounted for.
The call follows revelations in the 2021 annual report by the Auditor-General of the Federation, released on November 27, 2024. SERAP emphasized the urgent need for transparency, urging the NNPCL to clarify the funds’ utilization and ensure accountability.
