Tensions are escalating between Nigeria and Niger after the latter accused Nigeria of being a “rear base” for destabilizing its government.

Niger’s allegations stem from a recent attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline in the Dosso region, reportedly carried out by the Lakurawa terrorist group. Niger claims the group received support from Nigerian security forces.

In response, Nigeria has firmly denied the accusations, expressing condolences for the incident while emphasizing that the government had no involvement in the attack.
